Volunteer Scholarships

The Friends of Kings Park offer two scholarships annually, when funds are available, providing funding for the professional development of Kings Park volunteers and Friends of Kings Park members.

Tom Alford Scholarship

The Tom Alford Scholarship was named in honour of our inaugural president and long time Management Committee member. Tom was President for seven years and a major driver in getting the Friends where it is today.

Up to $5000 is available for members or volunteers to attend conferences, travel to other botanic gardens, or undertake other professional development opportunities.

This scholarship is open to members of the Friends of Kings Park, and can be split between two or three applicants.

Applications for the Tom Alford scholarship are accepted throughout the year.

Mary-Rose Paterson Scholarship

The Mary-Rose Paterson Scholarship is in memory of Mary-Rose Paterson, who served on the Management Committee and had a great love of our unique flora.

The aim of the scholarship is to encourage volunteers to develop their capacity to raise awareness and promote Kings Park.

The Scholarship is open to all Kings Park volunteers, and is valued at $2000.

It is available to all Kings Park volunteers in April/May every second year or when there are sufficient funds available from the interest on the endowment.
